The Brisbane Times City2South has graduated to another level, with the fun run transformed into a two-day fitness festival.

F45 boot camps, live entertainment, food trucks, a warm-down zone, free massages, charity and run club marquees as well as plenty of free activities for children were all expected to be available to both runners and non-runners on June 3 and 4.

There was also going to be an open-air cinema screening of the extended version of the award-winning Lion at The University of Queensland.

A revamped and more accessible five-kilometre course was introduced, starting at UQ’s St Lucia campus and finishing at South Brisbane’s Musgrave Park.

It partnered a 14-kilometre course starting on William Street in the CBD, finishing at Musgrave Park and crossing the Brisbane River three times.

Fairfax Events head of sport Sarah Young said she looked forward to the Brisbane event setting the tone for a successful city-run series.

“We’re excited to bring this year’s revamped City2South to Brisbane, with a renewed focus on health and wellness for people of all fitness levels,” she said.

The City2South will again partner with hundreds of Australian charities and set the goal of raising more than $125,000 for a wide range of worthy causes.

The 2016 event was a great success, with lingering rain holding off and more than $100,000 raised by more than 5000 participants.

Entries are open for the 2017 Brisbane Times City2South presented by Westpac.
