Author Sharon Monroe participated in a book signing event for her novel Surviving the Truth during the 2026 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books on April 18 at the University of Southern California. Monroe appeared at the Inks and Bindings booth located in the Black Zone, Booth #978, as part of the festival’s author signing program.
The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, commonly referred to as LATFOB 2026, is one of the largest literary gatherings in the United States, drawing authors, publishers and readers from across the country.
Surviving the Truth is a mystery thriller that follows the story of Laura, a 53-year-old woman navigating personal loss, family secrets and the complexities of self-discovery. The narrative explores how past experiences shape present decisions, while examining resilience and the challenges of confronting difficult realities.
The novel was published in 2025 and is available through major online marketplaces, including Amazon. The book spans 276 pages and marks Monroe’s entry into fiction following a professional career in education. According to available information, Monroe spent several decades working in public schools, primarily in early childhood through sixth-grade education, before transitioning into writing.
LATFOB 2026 attendees had the opportunity to meet Monroe, learn more about her work and have copies of Surviving the Truth signed during the scheduled session. The event was part of a broader lineup of author engagements hosted throughout the two-day festival on the University of Southern California campus.
In a review on Amazon, Grace, one of the readers, wrote: “It’s such a beautifully raw and transformative read. The way Sharon weaves together deep emotional struggles with healing and growth really spoke to my soul. This book is all about facing our truths—those hard, sometimes painful parts of ourselves—and finding the strength to rise above them.”
Meanwhile, Robin, another reader, said: “Surviving the Truth” by Sharon Monroe is a deeply emotional journey of strength, inner healing, and the power of facing one’s past. The story pulled me into a world where truth isn’t always easy to accept but is necessary for healing. What stood out to me was the way the book balanced weakness with strength. It doesn’t just describe struggles, rather it shows how confronting and embracing those struggles can lead to growth and empowerment.”
The author signing schedule was listed on the official Los Angeles Times Festival of Books website, which provided details on participating authors, booth locations and event times. The Inks and Bindings exhibitor listing was also available through the festival’s exhibitor directory.
