In celebration of her milestone 100th World Cup victory, Ikon Pass will match donations up to $50,000 to help Mikaela Shiffrin, the greatest skier of all time and Ikon Pass ambassador, raise $100,000 for Share Winter Foundation, to support youth learn to ski and snowboard initiatives. Ikon Pass holders are encouraged to make a donation at ikonpass.com/ambassadors/mikaela-shiffrin.
Share Winter’s mission is to enrich the lives of youth through winter sports through collaboration with mountain partners and brands to reduce barriers and fees, as well as community organizations, to create opportunities for youth to ski across the United States.
“I see this 100 victory conversation as an opportunity to bring more eyes, and ideally, more passion to the sport,” said Mikaela Shiffrin, Greatest Alpine Ski Racer of All Time and Ikon Pass Ambassador. “I’d like to turn the spotlight to something bigger than me. Helping Share Winter bring more kids to the mountain is really meaningful. It’s far bigger than me winning 100 races. This will make that 100th victory one of the most meaningful to me.”
Ikon Pass has partnered with Share Winter in the past through various donations, scholarships, and athlete mentoring. Ikon Pass parent company, Alterra Mountain Company, committed $4 million to a multi-year partnership in the form of cash and in-kind services, including lessons, lift tickets, equipment rentals, and meal vouchers. Through the donation, thousands of youth participating in Share Winter’s partner programs received up to four Learn to Ski & Ride programs at 14 of Alterra’s North American destinations.
“Ikon Pass has been fortunate to have Mikaela Shiffrin as our ambassador since its inception, and we are honored to help support her commitment to grow the sport through the very worthy efforts of Share Winter Foundation,” said Erik Forsell, CMO, Alterra Mountain Company. “Mikaela defines the standard of greatness through her endless passion, determination, thoughtfulness, and commitment to snowsports.”
