Attorney Marketing Network has released a new Google Chrome extension called Link Highlighter, designed to give website editors and SEO reviewers a faster way to see how a webpage's links are structured.

The extension works with a single click and requires no configuration or setup after installation. After installing it, a user opens any webpage, clicks the Link Highlighter icon, and selects “Highlight Links on This Page.” Every link on the page is then instantly color-coded, with internal links, meaning links that stay on the same website, shown in pink, and external links, meaning links that lead to a different website, shown in yellow.

A running count of each link type is displayed alongside the highlighted page, and a “Clear Highlights” option removes the coloring to restore the page's original appearance without needing to reload it.

The tool is intended for content editors, SEO reviewers, and site auditors who need a quick visual read on a page's linking structure without manually checking each hyperlink one at a time, a process that can otherwise require hovering over or clicking through individual links to determine their destination.

Attorney Marketing Network said the distinction between internal and external links is a common point of review during search engine optimization audits, since the balance and placement of each link type can affect how a page is evaluated by both readers and search engines, particularly on long-form content pages with many outbound references.

Link Highlighter runs entirely within the user's browser rather than through a remote server or third-party service. According to its published privacy disclosure on the Chrome Web Store, the extension only reads link addresses on the currently active browser tab, and only at the moment a user clicks the highlight button, in order to compare each link's domain against the page's own domain. The developer's listing states that no browsing data is saved, logged, or transmitted to an external server, and that the tool does not use analytics or collect data of any kind.

The extension was published to the Chrome Web Store on August 17, 2026, as version 1.0.0, and is listed under the Developer Tools category on the Chrome Web Store. It is available for free download, does not require an account or sign-in to use, and is currently offered only in English.

Attorney Marketing Network built the tool as part of its broader work helping law firms manage and audit their website content and search engine optimization strategy. The company's SEO services for law firms include technical audits, content strategy, and structured data implementation, among other services aimed at improving how legal websites are found and evaluated online. Internal and external link distribution is one of several technical factors commonly reviewed during a website audit, alongside page speed, metadata, and structured markup.

Internal linking is commonly used to help visitors navigate a website and to distribute authority between related pages, while external links to outside sources are often reviewed for relevance and credibility during a content audit. Reviewing the balance between the two link types is a routine part of many website maintenance and search engine optimization workflows.

Link Highlighter is now available for free on the Chrome Web Store. For more information about Attorney Marketing Network and its SEO services for attorneys and law firms, visit the company’s website.
