Dietz Electric Co., Inc., a Milwaukee-based provider of electric motor repair services, announced that it has expanded its capacity to accept new custom repair projects for industrial and commercial clients. The company said the additional capacity is now available across its full range of electrical and mechanical repair operations, allowing it to take on new work more quickly for customers in manufacturing, processing, and other motor-dependent industries.

The announcement comes as many facilities across the country report longer lead times for motor repair and rewind work, a trend the company said has created demand for a repair provider with broad in-house capability. Dietz Electric performs all repairs to meet or exceed the standards set by the National Electrical Manufacturers Association Standard MG1, the Electrical Apparatus Service Association, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers Standard 112A.

Dietz Electric's newly available capacity spans AC motor repair for both squirrel cage and synchronous designs, along with diagnostic and rebuild services for DC motors and generators. The company also repairs brush, brushless, and high-frequency alternators, and performs armature repair and magnet wire winding and rewinding for motors and generators of varying sizes.

Additional electrical repair capacity includes crane and wound rotor motor service, which involves rebuilding both stator and rotor components for heavy-duty lifting applications. The company also repairs servo motors and brushless DC motors used in automation and precision control systems, along with dry-type transformers used in electrical power distribution.

Dietz Electric is certified by Underwriters Laboratories to repair explosion-proof motors classified under Class I Groups C and D and Class II Groups F and G, Division 1. This certification allows the company to service motors used in hazardous industrial environments where strict safety compliance is required.

On the mechanical side, the expanded capacity covers vertical pump motor repair, mechanical variable speed drives, and gear reducers, each supported by failure analysis and, where needed, dynamic balancing. The company also repairs centrifugal and submersible electric pumps, along with fans and blowers, addressing issues ranging from impeller wear to motor alignment.

Dietz Electric's machine shop supports its expanded repair capacity with turning, milling, and grinding services performed on CNC equipment, along with metalizing and selective plating for worn or damaged motor components. The shop also provides MIG and TIG welding for repairing or fabricating housings, frames, and other motor parts.

Testing and diagnostic capacity has grown alongside the company's electrical and mechanical repair work. Services include vibration inspection and analysis for predictive maintenance, dynamometer testing for motors ranging from fractional horsepower to 100 horsepower, and DC hypotential testing to verify insulation integrity. The company also offers surge comparison testing, megger testing to 5,000 volts, and core loss testing to identify hidden electrical issues before they lead to failure.

Motor control electronics repair is included in the expanded availability as well, covering AC and DC variable speed drives, servo drives, programmable controllers, and temperature controllers. These repairs support the automated and process-control systems that many industrial clients rely on for continuous operation.

"We've built out our shop specifically so we're not turning work away or telling a customer we can only fix part of the problem," said Mark Henson, owner of Dietz Electric Co., Inc. "When a motor comes in, whether it needs rewinding, machine work, or full electronic drive repair, we can handle it under one roof, and that's what we're opening up more room for right now."

Henson said the company's approach centers on matching repair capacity to the pace of customer operations rather than the reverse. "Downtime on a production line or a pump station costs real money every hour it continues," Henson said. "Having the testing equipment, the machine shop, and the certified technicians in the same building means we can move a motor through diagnosis and repair without waiting on outside vendors."

Dietz Electric has also maintained its partnership with DHL Express, allowing repaired motors and related components to be shipped to customers domestically and internationally, a service the company said supports its expanded capacity by reducing turnaround time for clients outside the immediate Milwaukee area.

Dietz Electric Co., Inc. has supplied electric motors, power transmission products, and repair services to industrial customers for several decades. The company's repair division works alongside its motor and parts distribution business, giving customers access to both new equipment and repair support from a single supplier.
