For the first six months of 2026, Sound Group also reported a 25% increase in net revenue to $249.2 million. The drivers: its established online audio ecosystem and the commercialization of its global AI applications portfolio. Sound Group says it is in a unique position in that it has a solid revenue foundation and an AI growth engine; a profile that sets it apart from many AI companies still in pre-revenue growth mode.

Both Businesses Witness Growth In First Six Months Of 2026

Take its established online audio ecosystem. It remains a key revenue driver, and thanks to AI-enhanced content offerings, improved product experiences, stronger creator support tools and incentives and broader applications, especially during the first six months of the year. The established business is an important part of Sound Group’s long-term strategy and continues to evolve through product improvements, ecosystem development and deeper AI integration, reports the company.

Externally, Sound Group expanded its AI apps portfolio, AI and real-time audio intelligence capabilities and built new products around that, resulting in a 245% YoY increase in subscription revenues to $8.3 million. Meanwhile, subscription revenues grew 87% compared with the second half of 2025, highlighting current momentum.

Expanding AI, Horizontally And Vertically

Sound Group credits the growth to the expansion of its AI app portfolio and the commercialization of its AI products with practical use cases. Its product strategy combines horizontal expansion across a range of application scenarios with deeper vertical development for specific user groups, which the company says lets it broaden the reach of its AI portfolio and develop product-specific services. The aim is to continue to grow the business now that it is generating subscription-based revenue, which provides commercial validation.

Gross margins expanded, coming in at 31% compared to 29% in the year-ago period, while operating margins reflected targeted investments in new AI products, commercialization and global user growth. The company ended the first half of 2026 with cash and cash equivalents of $106.3 million, which highlights its financial footing even as it expands AI exposure.

AI Driving Underlying Growth

Sound Group has built a voice AI technology stack spanning capabilities such as real-time communication, automatic speech recognition and text-to-speech. The company’s SoundSphere technology system integrates these capabilities with audio-processing intelligence and AI-enabled operational layers, enhancing its AI application portfolio.

At the same time, its global footprint is driving measurable app performance. According to Sensor Tower data quoted by the company, one of Sound Group’s flagship apps hit a single-day peak ranking of No.1 among the highest-grossing Utilities applications in 23 markets (as of Aug 26, 2026), while cracking the Top 10 in 83 markets. Combined with high ratings across major app stores for its broader portfolio, the company seems determined to prove it can take these AI applications global, attract real user demand and monetize more globally.

While many AI investment opportunities remain pre-revenue and dependent on the growth-at-all-costs narrative, Sound Group offers a different profile. The company has moved past the pure development stage and is already generating AI subscription revenue with meaningful international traction, all while continuing to broaden its AI applications portfolio.

The AI-powered audio company’s growth strategy combines an established business that provides a revenue foundation with an AI engine demonstrating revenue momentum in the first half of 2026. With cash in the bank, current momentum across its AI apps portfolio and a goal of pursuing sustainable growth, Sound Group stands out as a rare revenue-backed AI play.
