The Stanwix Community Association (01228 275572) in northern Carlisle has announced 2025 booking availability at the Stanwix Community Centre, a one-room community venue available for social, community, and business use.
-- New booking slots are available for January, February, and March 2025 at the Stanwix Community Centre. Managed by the Stanwix Community Association (SCA) - a registered charity that serves as a hub for the local community - the venue is frequently used for continuing education and professional development for first responders and care workers. It also hosts council surgeries and local exhibitions, among other community-focused activities.

Originally a classroom at Stanwix School, the space has been refurbished into a bright and inviting room, measuring approximately 7 by 9 metres. The room features cupboards along both window walls, each covered with cushioned seating. It’s equipped with enough tables and chairs to accommodate 20 to 30 people, all of which can be stored in the cupboards when not in use.
Near the entrance, visitors will find a cloakroom, two toilets, and a small, newly refitted kitchen equipped with facilities for storing and reheating food and drinks. The kitchen also includes a serving hatch, as well as mugs and other crockery, a large kettle, toaster, microwave, and a standard-sized refrigerator.
The centre also offers a range of features suitable for business and educational meetings, including broadband Internet, a sound system, and a projector with an interactive SMART Board.
Bookings can be made at a rate of £15 per hour, which compares favourably to similar facilities in Carlisle. Payment can be made via PayPal or through another method by contacting the booking manager.
Located above part of the largest Roman cavalry fort on Hadrian’s Wall, the centre sits in the heart of the historic village of Stanwix. Recently, the venue hosted an event for residents showcasing rare finds from a nearby Roman archaeological dig.
“After all our hard work a few years ago, the Stanwix Community Centre is now a lovely venue for activities,” an SCA representative said. “Although we offer this facility primarily to the residents, families, and businesses of Stanwix, we welcome enquiries and bookings from individuals, groups, and businesses from the whole of the Carlisle area.”
