The coffee plant was first introduced into Columbia in 1739, and Colombian coffee has since become one of the most widely consumed varieties in America. The Coffee Cultural Landscape of Colombia is designated a world heritage site for its unique history and representation of the traditional coffee growing process.
The region where this new blend is grown, the Antioquia province, is famous for its strong tradition of coffee farming. In the same way that different regions of France are known for unique vintages, the same is true in coffee production, and these beans have a unique regional aroma and taste.
The beans are grown at an elevation of over 4000 feet, in rich volcanic loam soil. They are then sun-dried, a process which avoids machine processing and leaves the whole bean intact.
The Columbian coffee may be purchased in 12oz, 1lb, 2lb, and 5lb increments. It can be shipped as whole beans, or ground-to-order in a regular or espresso grind. Prices start at $15.99 and range to $70.99.
