Evan Evans Tours Renews Commitment to Sustainable Travel for World Tourism Day

Tour company Evan Evans' eco strategy supports the UN-backed global initiative that promotes sustainable tourism growth.

Leading UK tour company Evan Evans has renewed its commitment to sustainable travel in support of World Tourism Day.

The London-based company has pledged to ensure its vehicles are as efficient and eco-friendly as possible in an effort to reduce the environmental impact of its guided coach tours.

This has led to the launch of the firm’s first fully electric zero-emission motor coach in time for World Tourism Day, which is this year celebrated around the world on 27 September.

The theme for this year’s UN-backed World Tourism Day (27 September) is “Rethinking Tourism” which aims to inspire rethinking tourism’s role in global development and the opportunities to grow the industry with less impact on the planet.

Tom Macklin, Managing Director of Evan Evans Tours says, “We fully support the ethos of World Tourism Day and the drive towards a more sustainable future for the tourism industry.

“At Evan Evans, we recognise our responsibility to ensure our impact on the planet we call home is a positive one.”

The company is taking steps to address its impact through its sustainability strategy, How We Tread Right.

Launched in 2020, How We Tread Right (HWTR) is Evan Evans’ five-year sustainability strategy based on the corporate responsibility blueprint adopted by its parent company The Travel Corporation (TTC).

The strategy is based on 11 measurable goals anchored to the United Nations’ Global Goals, which address the issues of climate change, sustainable food production, waste reduction, travel experiences, diversity and inclusion, and wildlife.

Tom Macklin continues, “Sustainability is at the heart of our core business strategy. As part of this, we are actively trying to find ways to reduce our carbon footprint across the company and our fleet of vehicles.

“We regularly update and refresh our coaches and guarantee they comply with the highest European emission standards. We also plan to offer fully electric coach transportation on an increasing number of tours in the future.”

Evan Evans’ commitment to sustainability is underlined by the company’s involvement as a founding member of the TreadRight Foundation, which was set up to support sustainable tourism projects worldwide. Through TreadRight, Evan Evans has helped fund more than 60 projects that are helping to have a positive impact on tourism.
