New platform will transform underwriting workflows, accelerate agent responsiveness and create a scalable foundation for future growth

The Mutual Group (TMG) today announced a strategic partnership with Nativeorange to implement a next-generation underwriting workbench enabled by Google Cloud and Gemini Enterprise. The workbench will provide a unified digital workspace for underwriting teams, bringing together submission intake, triage, risk analysis, workflow management, agent communications and decision support into a single experience.

The underwriting workbench is a cornerstone of The Mutual Group's broader underwriting transformation strategy, designed to help member companies grow profitably while delivering faster, more consistent service to agents and policyholders. The initiative supports The Mutual Group's vision of providing more efficient and scalable underwriting solutions to member mutuals, allowing them to compete more effectively with larger, stock-owned insurers.

"At The Mutual Group, we're focused on helping our members compete and grow without sacrificing their independence," said Tom Troy, Chief Executive Officer of The Mutual Group. "Our partnership with Nativeorange represents a meaningful investment in the future of underwriting. By combining the expertise of our underwriting teams with advanced AI capabilities and modern workflows, we're creating a faster, more consistent experience for agents and customers while positioning our members for long-term success."

Built on Google Cloud’s secure infrastructure and using Gemini Enterprise, the workbench is designed to help underwriters focus more on judgment and relationship-building while reducing time spent on administrative work. The workbench will also provide greater transparency into workload and submission status across the underwriting organization.

“The insurance industry is ready to move beyond AI pilots and put agentic AI to work,” said Todd Pugh, Board Advisor to Nativeorange. “TMG has a bold vision for transforming underwriting. By bringing together its underwriting expertise, Nativeorange’s agentic AI platform, and the enterprise capabilities of Google Cloud, we are reimagining the underwriting operating model so underwriters can move faster, make more informed decisions, and spend more time applying judgment and building relationships.”

The new workbench will support thousands of annual submissions and introduce capabilities such as automated submission intake, AI-assisted triage, data enrichment, workflow orchestration, portfolio visibility, and streamlined agent communications. The initiative is expected to improve turnaround times, reduce operational friction, and create a scalable platform for continued innovation and AI expansion.

"The insurance market is rewarding carriers who are integrating specialized AI agents directly into their core underwriting and claims engines to automate complex triages and bring cycle times down to minutes, not days. This isn’t a future-state roadmap – it’s happening today," said Rohit Bhat, Managing Director, Financial Services, Google Cloud. "By combining Nativeorange’s deep, insurance-focused expertise with the scalability, security and advanced AI capabilities of Google Cloud and Gemini Enterprise, TMG is delivering on this reality today – helping redefine how underwriting work gets done and building a more intelligent, connected future."

The Mutual Group expects implementation activities to begin immediately, with phased deployment and user adoption efforts continuing over the coming months. The initiative aligns with The Mutual Group's broader strategy to modernize underwriting operations and create a scalable operating model capable of supporting future growth across its member companies. The platform will be configured to support the unique needs of multiple mutual insurers while providing consistent experiences, shared capabilities and centralized insights.
