Before entering civilian work, Mr. Downes served in the Irish Defense Forces, including 14 years in its special forces anti-terrorist unit, the Army Ranger Wing. Through his service, he gained unique insight into the security dynamics and strategic operations of governments and other organizations. This understanding led him to pursue a career in corporate security, which continues to be supported by his military experience.
Becoming a Corporate Security Expert
After completing his service, Mr. Downes became a national security manager with TNT Ireland and, thereafter, head of group security at TNT Holdings B.V. in the Netherlands in 1994. At the time, the organization was the largest transport operator in Europe and the fourth largest freight operator in the world. Armed with this newfound experience, Mr. Downes went on to serve as founder and chief executive officer at FreightWatch International from 1998 to 2003.
In 2008, as the founder and group chief executive officer of Senaca Group, Mr. Downes also assumed the role of managing director of KK Lodgit. From 2013 to 2014, he acted as chief executive officer of Seneca EA, and in 2014, he became chairperson of the Harriet Group, a role he held until 2024.
In 2017, he founded MySafe Dubai, the world's first fully automated safe deposit box business. He established the MySafe Group Holding company in Dublin, Ireland, in 2023 (ASDB Holdings Limited) and then went on to establish MySafe Global Vaults LLC in 2024, MySafe's Corporate entity in the U.S., a wholly owned subsidiary of ASDB Holdings Ltd.

Mr. Downes attributes his success to the people around him who believed in his vision, especially to the two friends who gave him $10,000 in 2016 to explore opportunities in Dubai. With this funding, he was able to establish MySafe Dubai and grow it into the company it is now. Now, Mr. Downes oversees the growth of MySafe's interests in the Middle East, East Africa, Asia and the United States. In his role as group chief executive officer, he is committed to supporting others and helping them grow.
The business that Mr. Downes established led to the launch of a globally oriented automated safe deposit box service, the first of its kind in the world. Guided by his unique experience in military and executive security, his team is reaching new heights.
