MEMPHIS, TN, May 13, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- This story is more than a news release but an expose' regarding Memphis White Supremacy, Racism and Black on Black Racism. This story is supported via videos that tell best the story whereas Memphis refuse to acknowledge the "Black World History" regarding the 1988 Black produced Memphis film "The Contemporary Gladiator" and its "World Black History." This story is not just a quick read, but a dissertation. Black Memphis Filmmaker Anthony "Amp" Elmore reveals how Memphis is "Pimping The Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr" while promoting White Supremacy, Racism, Black on Black Racism, whereas Memphis refuse to acknowledge "World Black History."
Anthony "Amp" Elmore a Memphis born 5-time World Kickboxing Champion is fighting Memphis White Supremacy, Racism and Black on Black Racism for "World Black History." This story goes beyond Memphis. This story digs into the heart and soul of Black Memphis leaders betraying the legacy of Black people worldwide.
Black Memphis leaders deny not only Black youth in Memphis of a rightful legacy of Black World History, Black Memphis leaders deny little Black children in Africa and around the world the inspiration of knowing that the 1st Kickboxing film in world film history was produced not only in "Orange Mound" the 1st planned community in America built for Blacks by Blacks, Anthony "Amp" Elmore who continues to live in Orange Mound in Memphis is the writer, producer, director and star of the film "The Contemporary Gladiator" and its untold racially obscured "World Black History."
"Black World History" transcends geographic borders, celebrating the contributions of Black individuals whose influence extends globally, whereas "American Black History" focuses on the struggles, achievements, and cultural impact of Black Americans within the United States.
Anthony "Amp" Elmore's groundbreaking 1988 Memphis film, The Contemporary Gladiator, is a monumental example of "Black World History"—its distinction as the first kickboxing film ever made worldwide is not just a cinematic milestone but an inspiration for Black filmmakers, athletes, and visionaries across generations.
Despite its erasure from mainstream Memphis narratives, the film stands as a testament to Black excellence, resilience, and the ability to break barriers on an international stage. Because Memphis racially ignores and discriminates such a legacy within Memphis tourism is to deny the world a piece of Black innovation that resonates far beyond the city itself. The acknowledgment of the 1988 Black produced Memphis film "The Contemporary Gladiator" is not just a nod to American history—it is a declaration that Black achievements deserves recognition in every corner of the globe and not be hidden and discriminated as in Memphis.
The Contemporary Gladiator stands alone in Memphis film history, not just as a local production but as a pioneering force in World Film History. While Memphis has birthed films that may have earned recognition in American cinema, none have shattered global barriers like this one—securing its rightful place in Black World History. Kickboxing itself is an international sport, deeply rooted in cultures across the globe, and this film's distinction as the first-ever kickboxing movie transcends Memphis, America, and reaches into a worldwide legacy.
The Memphis refusal to acknowledge this achievement does more than obscure Memphis' contribution—it denies Black filmmakers and athletes the inspiration they deserve. Recognizing The Contemporary Gladiator is not just about film history, it's about honoring Black excellence on a global scale. Black Memphis leaders discriminate regarding this film's "Black World History."
On April 18, 2025 the Blockbuster movie "Sinners" directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Michael B. Jordan premiered Worldwide. Such a movie should have come from Memphis. There is however a culture in Memphis of White Supremacy, Racism and Black on Black Racism whereas only White Films and White Filmmakers are supported in Memphis.

Memphis Mayor Paul Young is complicit to Memphis White Supremacy, Racism via his silence and not addressing Memphis White Supremacy and Racism or supporting a "Black Memphis History Museum in Memphis."
Memphis most obvious White Supremacy, Racism and Inequality is influenced by "Memphis Tourism" headed by Memphis CEO Kevin Kane. Kevin Kane is president and CEO of the Memphis Convention & Visitors Bureau and its subsidiary MMG LLC, which manages the Renasant Convention Center and the Cannon Center for the Performing Arts.

It appears that a White man by the name of "Don Gilbert" on October 17, 2017 orchestrated former Shelby County Mayor Mark Luttrell to award Mary Mitchell the honorary titled of "Orange Mound Historian."
Such a titled endeared Ms. Mitchell as a voice, spokesperson and authority regarding Orange Mound. Any simple examination will reveal that the "Orange Mound Arts Council" has no "Track Record" or any history to be granted a "Forever Lease." The Orange Mound Gallery was set up based on a grant.
It appears that Don Gilbert finessed the birth of "Orange Mound Arts Council" using Ms. Mary Michell who would have been on June 24, 2020 84 years old "A Forever Lease." The record of Black Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris to grant tax payer dollars a "Forever Lease" should also demand a "track Record" or objectives that will benefit "The Orange Mound Community." There exist no education of Black history in Orange Mound or a call for a "Black Memphis History Museum." Orange Mound Arts Council refuse to acknowledge that from Orange Mound emerged BlackMemphishistory.com Memphis 1st digital Black Memphis History Museum.
In regards to support the "Orange Mound Arts Council" refuse to support Orangemoundblackmemphishollywood.com whereas we are filmmakers who produce films and who can teach filmmaking. Elmore asked Mayor Paul Young to stop the White Supremacy, Racism and discrimination of the Memphis Shelby County Film Commission whereas Elmore ask that "Black Films and Black Filmmakers" allowed the opportunity to make "Black Films" as in the movie "Sinners."
The Memphis Shelby County Film Commission culture and practices are racist. It is clear that Linn Sitler used her function and authority to erase Elmore's "Black World History." Elmore states if Black youth are given an opportunity to make films and tell stories Memphis can become a dynamic hub of Black Filmmaking as in Atlanta. Memphis discriminates against "Black Memphis History." Atlanta has a multi-billion dollar Black Film Industry.
Anthony "Amp" Elmore ask Mayor Paul Young and African/American elected officials to arrange a economic prosperity via trade with Africa whereas "Memphis can become "Africa's Distribution Center." Elmore has relationships with Ghana, Kenya and Ethiopia.
