By: PRLog
IRVING, Texas - Feb. 21, 2018 - PRLog -- Several executives from Shermco Industries will be key contributors to the 2018 PowerTest Conference sponsored by NETA, the InterNational Electrical Testing Association on February 26 to March 2, 2018.  Located at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland, PowerTest is the key international conference for those interested in safety, testing, reliability and maintenance of electrical machines and power distribution systems.

Shermco Industries has long been a sponsor of the PowerTest Conference and will continue as a Premium Sponsor for 2018 as well as sponsoring a networking reception.

Jim White, vice-president of training services for Shermco, will present two sessions on electrical safety, and chair an electrical safety panel discussion – consistently identified as one of the conferences's most popular learning events.  White's session topics are "Safety Tips for Qualified Persons" as well as a tutorial titled "NFPA-70E 2018: Edition Changes, Overview, and Understanding the Impact of the New Standard." Additionally, he will participate and present in an electrical safety symposium which highlights electrical safety incidents.

Tom Sandri, senior technical instructor, will present a hands-on workshop on "Developing a Cable Fault Locating Strategy for Medium Voltage Power Cables."  Sandri will also moderate the cable testing panel. Additionally, Sandri will also present "Cable System Reliability, Testing & Failure Analysis at Windfarms" based on Shermco case studies in the renewable energy market.  Sandri will present failed components and review the root-cause analysis leading to each failure.

Rorry Phillips, Shermco's director of human resources will present "Implementation of Human Performance Initiative: A Lessons-Learned Case Study." This presentation will review current trends in human performance training and implementation, discuss what has worked well and what challenges were presented at Shermco.

Ron Widup, Shermco's CEO and a leading subject matter expert for electrical safety, will moderate an electrical safety symposium covering several case studies, providing opinions as to the causes, and more importantly, suggested actions that could have been taken to prevent the incident from occurring in the first place. Widup, along with three other subject matter experts, will present the audience with information in our quest for an incident-free existence in the world of electrical power.
