Established in 2014, the organisation has grown from a small start-up into a pivotal force for change, championing inclusion and education across various sectors.
According to the company, the journey of Visualise Training and Consultancy is deeply intertwined with the personal story of its founder, Dan Williams. Dan’s journey began in the challenging environment of childhood, where he faced significant adversity due to undiagnosed retinitis pigmentosa - a condition leading to progressive vision loss and eventual blindness. From a tender age, Dan grappled with the realities of his condition, enduring bullying and isolation that could have easily overshadowed his potential. However, his story is a testament to resilience and determination.
“Growing up with a visual impairment was incredibly challenging,” Dan shares. “There were moments when I felt isolated and misunderstood, especially during my teenage years. But with the right support and a determined mindset, I found a way to turn my fears into a driving force for success.”
With the support of counselling and the Royal National College for the Blind, Dan transformed his struggles into a powerful motivator. By the age of 23, not only had he launched Visualise Training and Consultancy, but he had also embarked on a mission to educate others about visual impairment. This mission was driven by his desire to make a difference, to help people understand the challenges faced by those with visual impairments, and to foster a more inclusive society.
Since then, Visualise Training and Consultancy has made significant strides in improving service provisions within various organisations, making them more accessible and accommodating for blind and partially sighted individuals. Through interactive training sessions that include the use of simulation spectacles and guiding techniques, Dan’s company has helped transform numerous organisations and positively impacted many lives.
“I never thought I would be the director of my own business when I left school,” Dan states. “I didn’t have a clue what I wanted to do or where I wanted to go. What I’ve learned is that no matter who you are, you can achieve your goals as long as you maintain a positive mindset and the ambition to succeed. I may be losing my sight, but I’m never losing my vision.”
