As artificial intelligence rapidly reshapes the global economy, many traditional business skills are being automated. Yet according to entrepreneur, investor and business mentor Marco Robinson, one capability is becoming more valuable than ever: the ability to sell.
While AI can generate content, automate marketing campaigns, analyse customer data and streamline operations, Robinson believes it cannot replace the human ability to build trust, understand emotion and help people make confident buying decisions.
“Technology can start the conversation,” Robinson says. “But people still buy from people. They buy certainty. They buy confidence. They buy trust.”
It’s a perspective backed by decades of entrepreneurial experience. Robinson, widely known as “The Billion Dollar Man,” has built businesses across multiple industries and was instrumental in leading a public company to a valuation exceeding $6 billion. Throughout that journey, he says one lesson has remained constant.
“Sales has been the single most valuable skill I’ve ever developed. Every business I’ve built, every opportunity I’ve created and every major success I’ve achieved has started with understanding how to communicate value and earn trust.”
As AI lowers the barriers to launching businesses and creating products, Robinson believes the marketplace is becoming increasingly crowded.
“Today almost anyone can build a website, create content or launch an online business using AI,” he explains. “That means customers have more choice than ever before. In a world where everyone has access to the same technology, trust becomes the real differentiator.”
According to Robinson, this shift is creating unprecedented demand for highly skilled sales professionals.
“The companies that win won’t necessarily have the best technology. They’ll have the people who know how to build genuine relationships, uncover client needs and help customers make the right decisions.”
He also believes founders themselves need to master sales before delegating the function.
“The entrepreneur who learns to sell understands their customer better than anyone. Sales teaches you communication, leadership, negotiation and psychology. Those lessons shape every part of building a successful company.”
Robinson says this demand is particularly evident within the rapidly expanding coaching, consulting and education sectors, where businesses invest heavily in digital marketing to generate qualified appointments but often struggle to convert enquiries into paying clients.
Recognising that gap, Robinson has announced the launch of the Billion Dollar Closer Certification Programme, designed to train aspiring and experienced professionals in high-ticket remote sales.
Unlike traditional sales roles built around cold outreach, participants are trained to conduct structured sales conversations with prospective clients who have already expressed interest by booking appointments through paid marketing campaigns.
“These are warm, qualified opportunities,” Robinson explains. “Our role is to train people to lead ethical, high-value conversations that genuinely help prospects decide whether the solution is right for them.”
The programme also provides access to qualified sales opportunities generated through established coaches and consultants, allowing certified closers to gain practical experience while building an income.
Robinson says the opportunity reflects the growing demand for skilled closers across the digital economy.
“Many successful remote closers generate between $5,000 and $15,000 per month working part-time, while experienced full-time professionals can earn $20,000 to $50,000 per month, depending on performance, commission structures and the volume of qualified opportunities they handle. Individual results will always depend on skill, effort and consistency.”
For Robinson, however, the broader message extends well beyond earning potential.
“Artificial intelligence will continue changing the way we work, but influence, leadership and trust remain deeply human. Those who master communication and sales will continue creating opportunities regardless of how technology evolves.”
As businesses increasingly embrace AI, Robinson believes the future belongs to professionals who can combine technological efficiency with authentic human connection.
“If you can build trust and communicate value,” he says, “you’ll always be in demand.”
