Fitness expert and vegan lifestyle advocate John Lewis, who co-directed the documentary “They’re Trying to Kill Us” with the top filmmaker Keegan Kuhn and co-produced it with 7-time Grammy winner Billie Eilish and NBA All-Star Chris Paul, launches a new book titled “Badass Vegan.” According to Lewis, the book is a “wake you up” manifesto and plant-based lifestyle plan to buck the system that keeps today’s African-Americans fat, sick, and tired.

In his book, Lewis demystifies going vegan, offering 75 mouthwatering recipes, including Jack U Up Street Tacos, Cucumber Watermelon Smoothies, and Kimchi Nori Maki Rolls, to keep readers motivated. Intending to reduce disease risk and positively impact the world, the book is a timely and much-needed manifesto providing a four-part master plan to help readers shift their mindset towards a plant-based lifestyle, with rock-solid advice on pantry staples, nutrient intake, building strength, weight loss, and creating sustainable change.

“John Lewis, the Badass Vegan, shares his name with one of the greatest civil rights activists and leaders of our time. Like the late John Lewis, the Badass Vegan is leading a similar charge and fighting for healthy results in our community. He uses his easy style of conversation and wit to help convince even the staunchest critic to look at the positive benefits of trying a plant-based lifestyle without being a “corn” ball,” said Cedric the Entertainer.

The book is available on, Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, Bam!, Barnes & Noble, Penguin Random House, Indie Bound, Google Play, and Rakuten Kobo. Visit to learn more about Badass Vegan and order a copy today.

About Badass Vegan

John Lewis, also known as “The Badass Vegan,” is a towering six-foot-six African American with the build of a Division I college basketball player. However, when people meet him, “vegan” is not typically the first word that comes to mind. He has been living a plant-based lifestyle for fifteen years after witnessing how the conventional American diet was adversely affecting his community. Heart disease, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and chronic pain are devastating African-Americans in the US at an alarming rate. While the problem of food injustice is vast and multifaceted, Lewis believes that a straightforward solution is to wake up and do better in life. Today, Lewis is a vegan lifestyle advocate on a mission to transform individuals physically, mentally, and spiritually.
