From Southern Charm to Grammy nominees and surfing champions, a growing list of stars are going public about plant medicine
GUANACASTE, COSTA RICA / ACCESS Newswire / July 10, 2026 / A new feature in SPIN Magazine profiles ten celebrities who traveled to Rythmia Life Advancement Center for ayahuasca, and details how the experience reshaped their lives.
The story arrives as psychedelic healing continues its move into the mainstream, showing up across television, film, and music, and in candid testimonials from public figures willing to talk on the record.
Among the ten featured are Southern Charm's Shep Rose, who wrote a memoir about his week at Rythmia, called Nothing in Moderation; César Millán, who joined the center's board after his first visit; comedian Ron White, alcohol free for nearly five years since his ceremony; surfing legend Kelly Slater, an eleven-time world champion and board member since 2021; and bestselling author Jack Canfield, now spearheading an anthology of ayahuasca stories set for release in 2026.
The feature also profiles André 3000, Audrina Patridge, Bobby Brown, Iyanla Vanzant, and Terrence Howard, each of whom has spoken publicly about their experiences with plant medicine.
More than 134 recognized names have walked through Rythmia's doors over the past decade. The center reports a 97.86% self-reported miracle rate among the 23,476 guests who have completed the program since 2016, with 93.42% saying six months later that the shift is still active in their lives.
Rythmia remains the only medically licensed ayahuasca center in the world, known for round-the-clock medical care, premium amenities, farm-to-table food, and its signature Rythmia Way program.
"People arrive here carrying an entire life's worth of emotional baggage," said Gerard Powell, founder of Rythmia. "Anxiety, grief, addiction, the belief that they're broken. What they find is that none of it was ever the truth of who they are. When someone like Ron White or Kelly Slater sits down and tells you their life changed here, they're not selling anything. They're telling you what happened to them. Ten years in, and I'm still amazed every single week."
