About Mr. Clement

Mr. Clement is a Paris-born interior designer who was raised by internationally renowned artists. He was brought up to embrace his talent and was heavily influenced by his parents' talent.

Although he originally pursued a career in the music industry, Mr. Clement discovered his true calling while attending college. While studying at Fairfield University in Connecticut, he took a class on interior design and discovered his love for the field, making the pivotal decision to change his career trajectory.

Mr. Clement earned a bachelor's degree in interior design from Fairfield University in 2003. Within a year, he was working in New York City with a well-respected interior designer.

The Beginning of Gilles Clement Designs

In 2009, Mr. Clement started his current interior design company, Gilles Clement Designs, with his wife, Aida. He utilized his talent, education, experience and work ethic to build a successful business in the interior design industry.

"It is a very competitive field. You really need to study it to know your trade. You find yourself in a field where you compete with people who might be good at hustling, but they often do not know anything about design," Mr. Clement says. "You also need to have a very good business sense, as you need to know how to market yourself and develop the business."

For the last 10 years, with two showrooms and two art galleries in Greenwich and Westport, Mr. Clement's work has mostly been centered in Connecticut, New York, Florida, and Texas, where he works with local, national and international clients.

He restructured last year in the Stamford Design district with a brand-new showroom featuring some of his own creations, as well as his exclusive new line of contemporary kitchens from Spain and a full design center in-house.

The designs created by Mr. Clement are described as "distinctively cosmopolitan, European crafted luxury." He creates custom pieces that are unique and special for his clients and decided after a while to start his own furniture line with the first prototypes being completed at the end of this year and will be distributed and sold nationally and internationally.

"I also decided to expand my style to draw and design pieces that I wanted to create, with an influence from the animal kingdom, because I love animals and sourcing inspiration from their shapes and patterns. I love to see them on furniture. "The Lalanne's masterpieces from the 1970s have always been instrumental in my creations," Mr. Clement explains.

Mr. Clement's love of animals extends to his philanthropic work, and he supports several animal rescue organizations.

A Strong Work Ethic

Currently, Mr. Clement is working on multiple large projects that allow him to create innovative and unique designs.

Mr. Clement's work ethic continues to drive his success. He works seven days a week and rarely vacations. With his wife, he continues to dedicate his time to Gilles Clement Designs.

As for advice to others entering the interior design industry, Mr. Clement shares a favorite quote: "Shoot for the moon, and you will land amongst the stars."
