LONDON - HeyBRB, the AI automation consultancy for UK small business owners, today launched the HeyBRB Admin Drain Tracker: a free Chrome extension that runs silently in the background and tells letting agents, accountants, and tradespeople exactly how much admin is eating their week — not in vague percentages, but in pounds.
The extension is the direct product application of HeyBRB's 2026 UK Admin Drain Report, published at heybrb.ai/research/uk-admin-drain-report-2026, which found that UK small business owners in property, accounting, and trades lose an average of 10 to 15 hours per week to repetitive admin tasks. At typical billing rates, that is £500 to £750 of their own time, every single week, going nowhere.
The report got attention. The question that followed was always the same: "How much am I personally losing?"
The Admin Drain Tracker answers that with your own data.
What it does
The extension watches which websites you visit during your working day, categorises them as admin or productive based on your industry, and generates a weekly report that reads like this:
"You spent £712 on admin this week. 14.2 hours. 37% of your working time. Your top drain: Email (5.3 hours, £265). Projected annual cost: £36,400."
The annual projection is the number that tends to land hardest.
Users set up once by picking their industry and entering their approximate hourly rate. From there, the extension runs without any input. Pre-configured category rules handle the classification: for letting agents, Rightmove and Zoopla count as productive, email and Xero count as admin. Accountants and tradespeople get their own category sets built in. Live stats are available any time by clicking the extension icon.
Built on research, not assumptions
The 2026 UK Admin Drain Report surveyed small business owners across letting agencies, accountancy practices, and trades businesses to map where admin hours actually go. Email, invoicing, chasing payments, and portal management came out as the top four drains across all three sectors. The Tracker's category logic is built directly from those findings, which means the default configuration reflects what the research showed, not what seems reasonable in theory.
The full report is free to read at heybrb.ai/research/uk-admin-drain-report-2026.
Privacy by design
The extension reads only the domain name of the active browser tab. It never reads page content, never stores full URLs, and never sends any data to HeyBRB's servers. Everything is stored locally in the user's browser. HeyBRB cannot see any browsing activity. Full privacy details are at heybrb.ai/ai-information.
Pricing
Completely free. No premium tier, no data collection, no catch.
"We published the report so business owners could see what was happening across the industry," said the HeyBRB team. "The Tracker exists so they can see what's happening in their own business specifically. Most people who install it find out their number is worse than they expected. That's the point. You cannot fix a problem you haven't measured."
The HeyBRB Admin Drain Tracker is available now in the Chrome Web Store.
