Business Summit for Women in Atlanta

The AC Hotel Atlanta Buckhead will come alive on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. when the Jamaican Chamber of Commerce, Atlanta, PowHer team takes center stage.

Despite the many achievements of women in both politics and the marketplace; a female as vice-president of the United States, a black female judge heading the U.S. Supreme court and a female heading companies such as, Delmiaworks, in Europe, the world still have a long ways to go. We cannot be satisfied, as women in many parts of the world continue to suffer from exclusion in many dimensions of their lives. Fortunately, the tides of history are underway to make the minimal yet notable successes translate into permanent gains for women’s empowerment and equal opportunity. POWHer is using its voice and platform to help women enhance their economic productivity and improve their personal development outcomes for growth and independence.

PowHer International Women’s Summit was created as a safe space for women to grow personally and professionally. This year’s summit is a history maker as the first in-person summit. The last two years were virtual, and had in attendance close to 300 women worldwide.

This year promises to be bigger and better with features such as, high-impact speakers, a vibrant panel discussion, a fashion show, entertainment, and a spread of Jamaican food.

Chairwoman of the committee, Dr. Joan Wright-Good, expresses that even with all the great benefits of attending the event mentioned, what she looks forward to the most, is the Chamber awarding one lucky attendee the entrepreneurial scholarship of $2,000.00. Dr. Wright-Good is no stranger to bootstrap business growth. She recalls starting her businesses, Business Startup & Marketing LLC, and JWG Publishing House, 8 years ago with only $125.00. Today both companies are million-dollar companies serving the community while helping other entrepreneurs create wealth from one business idea, one book or one dream. The Jamaican native, has proven that hard work and consistency supersedes culture, differences and challenges.
