Dr. Joseph William Kovach, an American Management Consultant, Psychologist, and Educator has been selected as Top Professor of the Year 2023 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP).
Inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself; only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, longevity in the field, other affiliations and contributions to their communities. All honorees are invited to attend the IAOTPs annual award gala at the end of this year for a night to honor their achievements.
A former diplomate of the American Board of Psychological Specialties and the American College of Forensic Examiners, Dr. Joseph William Kovach has over five decades of experience in the field. Dr. Kovach is a Diplomate of the American Board Psychological Specialties of America, College Forensic Examiners; a licensed school psychologist, certified marriage and family therapist.
Dr. Kovach has led his firm of Joseph W. Kovach and Associates LTD., as President since its founding in 1969. He has taught at Purdue University Northwest, and South Suburban College before taking on his current role as Department Chair and Professor at Calumet College of St. Joseph. For 15 years, he served as the faculty representative at Calumet College of St. Joseph board of trustees, overseeing the creation of 10 new academic departments and a graduate psychology program. Since 2000, he has also spoken and worked with state and local police and sheriff's departments on trauma intervention, crisis counseling, death notification, and stress management at the Northwest Indiana Law Enforcement Academy.
Assisting the corporate merchandising manager at Kroch's & Brenatano's, is where he started his career in 1965. Five years later, he was promoted to regional operations manager for Interstate Department Stores, Inc. He eventually used the knowledge he gathered in both positions to become the director of Buzan Centre Ltd. of Chicago and the head of the department of natural and social sciences and the department of psychology at Calumet College of Saint. Joseph. He leads Joseph W. Kovach and Associates, Ltd. Dr. Kovach has created employee aid and wellness programs, as well as problem-solving and creative-thinking courses, for the commercial and industrial sectors in the past.
Before embarking on his career, Dr. Kovach earned a Bachelor of Arts in speech from St. Joseph's College in 1969, a Master of Arts in psychology from Roosevelt University in 1974, and a Doctor of Psychology in clinical psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 1986.
Throughout his illustrious career Dr. Kovach has received many awards and accolades and has been recognized globally for his achievements. Dr. Joseph Kovach has received the Marquis Who's Who Lifetime Achievement Award and was one of 16 honorees honored in the Wall Street Journal. This year, he is being considered for IAOTP’s Lifetime Achievement Award, to be featured on the famous Nasdaq Billboard in Times Square and he will be honored at IAOTP’s annual awards gala held at the iconic Plaza Hotel in NYC this December of 2023. He has been recognized globally, including for assisting Lithuania's transition into a market economy when the Soviet Union collapsed. Dr. Kovach has participated in several forums at colleges in the United States, Europe, and Australia, including giving presentations and guest lectures. He is also a member of the Oxford Roundtable on Human Rights.
