What Happened?

Shares of video sharing platform Rumble (NASDAQGM:RUM) jumped 8.4% in the morning session after the company reported second-quarter revenue that significantly surpassed Wall Street's expectations. The company announced sales of $40.37 million, a 60.9% increase year-over-year and a 31.7% beat against analyst estimates.

However, the quarter was not without its challenges. Rumble's GAAP loss per share of $0.28 was significantly wider than the expected loss of $0.10. Additionally, the company's cash burn increased substantially, with free cash flow at negative $91.62 million for the quarter, compared to negative $16.11 million in the same period last year. Despite the mixed results, investors appeared to focus on the strong top-line growth.

What Is The Market Telling Us

Rumble’s shares are extremely volatile and have had 57 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today’s move indicates the market considers this news meaningful but not something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business.

The biggest move we wrote about over the last year was 10 months ago when the stock gained 17.9% on the news that the company announced a partnership with Perplexity, an AI-powered answer engine. The collaboration aimed to improve video discovery on Rumble by using Perplexity's AI tools.

The agreement also included the launch of a new subscription bundle that combined Rumble Premium with Perplexity Pro. Additionally, the partnership involved the promotion of Perplexity's new product, Comet, across Rumble's platform. This news was met with enthusiasm from investors, who reacted positively to the potential for enhanced user experience and new revenue opportunities.

Rumble is up 5.1% since the beginning of the year, but at $6.69 per share, it is still trading 31.4% below its 52-week high of $9.75 from May 2026. Despite the year-to-date gain, investors who bought $1,000 worth of Rumble’s shares 5 years ago would now be looking at only $690.
