AutoPro DFW, a ceramic coating and paint protection shop in Roanoke, Texas, reports growing demand for ceramic coating across the northwest Fort Worth suburbs. Coating work now rivals the detailing that built the shop, with calls coming in from Keller, Southlake, Trophy Club, and nearby cities, the company said.
Three things are driving it, according to the shop. North Texas is in another stretch of triple digit heat, and constant sun fades unprotected paint. Spring brought two rounds of large hail across Tarrant and Denton counties in late April. That pushed owners toward paint protection film for hoods and roofs. And drivers are keeping their cars longer than ever, a record 12.8 years on average, per S&P Global Mobility. When somebody plans to keep a car 12 or 13 years, the paint has to hold up that long too.
“Five years ago, most of our calls were for detailing,” said owner Carlos Garcia. “Now people call about protecting the car before anything happens to it. Most of it is daily drivers. Trucks and SUVs that sit in the sun all day.”
