The property sits directly on Siltcoos Lake. In the 1800s, it operated as the Roosevelt Supper Club, a gathering spot where steamboats once docked. That chapter ended when the building was destroyed in a mysterious fire. In the 1940s, the site was reborn as the Fish Mill Lodges, a fishing and RV lodge that drew returning families for decades. By the time the current owners acquired the property in November 2024, it had been non-operational for an extended period and was in significant disrepair.
“When we first walked the property, it needed a tremendous amount of work, but the lake, the trees, and this sense of calm convinced us the journey would be worth it,” said Sharan Kaur, co-owner. “We wanted to restore this place not just as somewhere to sleep for the night, but as somewhere families could spend an entire day kayaking, fishing, playing games on the lawn, and ending the night around a bonfire. We built The Florentine around connection, not convenience.”
Rather than demolishing and rebuilding, the owners undertook a restoration effort that preserves the site’s longstanding identity as a lakeside gathering place. The April 2025 opening represents the completion of the first renovation phase, with additional development planned.

While guests receive their check-in details and a secure four-digit door code by text before arrival, the arrival experience is designed to be personal and welcoming.
