Acquisition strengthens Vizient’s Spend Management portfolio and helps clients improve visibility into procedural supply inventory, reduce waste and support supply chain performance

Vizient® today announced it has completed its acquisition of SxanPro, an inventory intelligence company that helps healthcare organizations improve visibility into procedural and high-complexity supply inventory.

SxanPro’s patented mobile scanning technology, enabled by Unique Device Identification (UDI), helps organizations understand what inventory they have, where it is located and whether it is usable. The technology captures item-level information such as product identifiers, lot numbers, expiration dates and recall status.

The acquisition adds a new capability to Vizient’s Spend Management portfolio and expands the company’s ability to help clients address operational waste, inventory obsolescence and supply chain inefficiencies beyond sourcing and contracting.

“The acquisition reflects Vizient’s continued investment in practical solutions that help healthcare organizations turn supply chain insight into measurable operational improvement,” said Bill Selles, senior vice president and general manager, Spend Management Services, Vizient. “By bringing together inventory intelligence, expertise and execution support, we can help clients address waste and inefficiencies where they occur across complex procedural environments.”

Inventory visibility can be especially challenging in procedural and high-complexity settings, including operating rooms, catheterization labs, interventional radiology departments, crash carts, and specialty carts. SxanPro’s capabilities can help clients identify opportunities to improve inventory health, recover value, redeploy usable products and strengthen supply chain execution.

“SxanPro was founded to help healthcare organizations address the persistent challenges associated with inventory visibility and management,” said Ashlea Souffrou, founder of SxanPro. “Joining Vizient gives us the opportunity to build on the work we have done with hospitals while extending our reach and resources. We are excited to continue supporting healthcare organizations as part of Vizient.”

SxanPro’s team will join Vizient and continue leading current client relationships and growth activities. No immediate changes to existing SxanPro client relationships or services are expected.

The acquisition supports Vizient’s broader strategy to help healthcare organizations close the supply chain performance gap by connecting data, technology, advisory expertise and operational execution.
