The oversubscribed round led by SpringTide Ventures raised total funding for Dopl to more than $8M and will advance product development, clinical evaluation, and initial pilot deployments
Dopl Technologies, a Bothell, Washington-based medical technology company developing a robotic ultrasound platform, today announced it has closed a $6.3 million seed round led by SpringTide Ventures. The round raised Dopl's total funding to more than $8 million. Its investor base includes more than a dozen firms, comprising strategic, institutional, and community-focused investors from across the United States.
With the new funding, Dopl will pursue FDA clearance for its product ecosystem, which includes Traverse™, a remote robotic ultrasound system; Dopl Connect™, a secure connectivity and data platform; and SonoFlex™, a distributed clinical workforce and workflow management solution. The distributed care platform will enable sonographers to remotely perform diagnostic ultrasound exams for patients on demand across multiple sites, often in rural communities where access to specialized care has been historically limited.
The funding will support product verification and validation, FDA submission and clearance activities, clinical evaluation, and initial market release. Dopl's platform is hardware-agnostic, integrating off-the-shelf robots, ultrasound systems, haptic controllers, and cameras to enable rapid deployment across existing hospital infrastructure.
Dopl's growing team brings extensive expertise across robotics, AI, medical devices, and clinical operations. Founded by a former NVIDIA medical AI engineer alongside practicing cardiologists and radiologists, the broader team offers experience from Butterfly Network, Philips, Microsoft, and Amazon.
“Our outstanding team is energized and now capitalized to move quickly through the regulatory process to deliver reliable, remote robotic ultrasound to patients who today must often travel hours to receive essential care,” said Ryan James, PhD, CEO and Co-founder of Dopl Technologies. “This is a critical step toward providing specialty care, anywhere, through telerobotic and autonomous care delivery, bridging the healthcare divide that affects tens of millions of people in the United States alone.”
Dopl launched its current ultrasound service, CareBridge™, to temporarily address patient needs while pursuing FDA clearance, build partner relationships, and provide Dopl with direct insights from patients and providers. CareBridge delivers select hospitals with immediate, in-person coverage from traveling sonographers, ensuring uninterrupted, end-to-end diagnostic ultrasound care. Patients in communities where Dopl operates see up to a 90% reduction in wait times. These select hospital systems are planned to be the first to pilot a transition of their imaging services to Dopl’s telerobotic ecosystem upon FDA clearance.
“We're excited to support Dopl Technologies and its unique, category-defining approach as a physical AI company. Dopl is primed to deliver a cost-efficient, revenue-generating model for health systems, enabling skilled sonographers to work from home, allowing more patients to receive care when and where they need it most,” said Austin Walters, Co-founder and Managing Partner of SpringTide Ventures. “Dopl's combination of proven clinical traction, innovative, integrated technologies, and an experienced team positions it to lead the coming wave of robotic care delivery, and we believe it will democratize how and where imaging is available.”
SpringTide Ventures is joined by WRF Capital, Tacoma Venture Fund (pre-seed lead), HeartX, Transform Health Ventures, Precursor Ventures, and additional early-stage institutional investors.
