There is no active cantaloupe recall and no product in the marketplace

Ayco Farms, Inc. (“Ayco Farms”) today issued a clarification regarding recent media coverage tied to its inclusion in the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s weekly Enforcement Report.

The listing reflects a previously completed, voluntary recall of fresh whole cantaloupes that were distributed between December 12, 2025, and January 16, 2026, due to “potential” Salmonella contamination.

There is no active recall, and no product subject to this notice is currently in the marketplace.

The recall was initiated earlier this year as a precautionary measure in coordination with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. On March 24, 2026, Ayco Farms issued formal notifications to its customers, as agreed with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, as part of the agency’s standard recall reporting process.

This routine step is what led to the inclusion of this matter in the FDA’s recent Enforcement Report. That timing reflects regulatory protocol—not the presence of product in the market. Fresh cantaloupes have a typical refrigerated shelf life of approximately 30 days.

As a result, all product associated with this matter had already passed its shelf life and was no longer in commerce at the time of the March notification.
