About Mr. Froeter

With more than five decades of experience in the construction industry, Mr. Froeter has been the owner of Sterling Commercial Roofing since 2008. He entered the field in 1974, when he worked as a roofer for his father's business. Later, in the mid-1980s, he decided to move in a new direction and became a project manager for Olsson Roofing in Aurora, Illinois. He continued in this role until his brother opened a branch office for Sterling Commercial Roofing upon the closing of their father's business.

Mr. Froeter remained with Sterling Commercial Roofing after his brother's departure. Under his leadership, the branch he managed grew larger than its parent company, so he decided to purchase the entire business. The company is currently completing a $28 million data center contract.

Mr. Froeter's mission for Sterling Commercial Roofing is to prioritize his customers and employees, which has enabled the company to flourish. He believes that by focusing on the needs of others, the business "might make a buck, or two," and he is gratified by observing his employees striving every day to make the company the best it can be. At the annual safety meeting, Mr. Froeter tells his staff that "the only company that is better than Sterling Commercial Roofing today is Sterling Commercial Roofing tomorrow."

A Commitment to Continuous Learning

Mr. Froeter understands that the world and industry are constantly changing and evolving, so he engages in continuous learning. He is open to new ideas and believes that there is always a better way to do things.

Mr. Froeter cites raising the bar by setting an example of quality and safety in the industry as his greatest achievement. His professionalism and expertise are evident in the fact that he has won the Chicago Roofing Contractors Association (CRCA) Gold Medal Safety Award twice within the last eight years. Mr. Froeter has served as a co-chair of the CRCA Health and Safety Committee for eight years and has written several articles on safety for the organization's magazine. He also lends his expertise as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity.

Recognition for Making a Difference in the Roofing Industry

In 2023, Mr. Froeter was honored as a Marquis Who's Who Top Professional and received the Marquis Who's Who Humanitarian Award. He was also featured as a Top Professional by the Wall Street Journal and will soon be featured in Fortune.
