Drake Software and the National Association of Tax Professionals present final free roundtable discussion of 2021 in preparation of 2022 tax season

By: PRLog

Topics include child and dependent care tax credit, e-filing in 2022 and preparation for the upcoming tax season

APPLETON, Wis. - Dec. 22, 2021 - PRLog -- After the success of the first virtual roundtable discussion with the National Association of Tax Professionals and Drake Software, the industry experts have teamed up again to offer another free discussion for tax professionals of all levels of experience.

The third "Taxes Today" roundtable will focus heavily on the child and dependent care tax credit, including who qualifies and how, appropriate use of the credit in cases of unmarried parents, divorce or filing statuses of 'married filing separately', and how to report unused FSA benefits carried over from 2020 into 2021.

"While we're still waiting on the outcome of proposed legislation that will significantly affect tax preparers, there is a lot we do know about what to expect for the upcoming tax season," said NATP Executive Director Scott Artman, CPA, CGMA. "This final 'Taxes Today' roundtable discussion in 2021 will be a must for tax preparers, especially those who have clients with children."

To view the third discussion, interested tax professionals simply need to log into or register on NATP's website. They will then be able to access this discussion and the two previous discussions for free.

"The majority of tax preparers will have to deal in some way with tax deductions or credits related to their clients' children," said Drake Software Chief Revenue Officer John Sapp, CPA. "The child and dependent care credit is a popular tool taxpayers use to reduce income for tax purposes, and preparers will need to know about the changes and updates of its usage for 2021 returns."
