Weber E-210 vs E-310 – Overview

It’s important to point out here that Weber makes E-210 and E-310 models that fall into both their Spirit II and Genesis II families of grills.  There are a few differences feature and construction wise between Spirit and Genesis grills.  We’ll go over some of those differences here, but if you want to read more you can check out our post dedicated to comparing Spirit vs Genesis grills.

Generally speaking, Spirit grills are more of a bare bones style of grill compared to Genesis.  That’s not to say Spirit E-210 and E-310 models aren’t high quality, because they are.  It just means that comparatively speaking, the Genesis E-210 and E-310 models have a few more built in extra features and have stronger design features.

Both the E-210 and E-310 models come equipped with Weber’s signature GS4 grilling system.  We’ll go over all of what that entails after the grill reviews.

Which Grills Are We Talking About?

Most people don’t realize that when we talk about Weber E-210 vs E-310 we are actually talking about comparing 8 different grill models.  The E-210 and E-310 both come in a Spirit and Genesis iteration.  The Spirit E-210, Genesis E-210, Spirit E-310, and Genesis E-310 all then come as either a propane or natural gas fueled grill.

My tongue is a little bit twisted at this point, but you get the idea.  The Weber E-210 vs E-310 conversation is actually about quite a few different grills.  The good news is, there’s likely a great fit for you no matter what your preferences are!

Number of Burners

The other big high level point that I would add is that the main differentiator between E-210 and E-310 grills is the number of gas burners on each grill.

All of the E-210 models are 2 burner gas grills whereas the E-310 models are 3 burner gas grills.  Weber’s naming taxonomy is to indicate the amount of burners with the leading number on the individual model name.  So for example, their E-410 grills are 4 burner gas grills.

The main implication of more (or less) burners is more (or less) cooking space on the grill.  By default, E-210 grills are going to have less cooking area than E-310 models.  They’ll also generally be smaller in profile than E-310 grills.

The other implication of the amount burners is heat output.  Less burners means less heat.  You can get to high temperatures on all of these grills – but if you’re a steak connoisseur who will regularly sear, you might want to lean towards a model with more heat output.

Now we’re going to go over individual grills and highlight some of the features of each.  We’ll start with the 310 models and then work into the 210’s.

With 669 square inches of total cooking space, the Weber Genesis II E-310 has the most cooking area in the Weber E-210 vs E-310 conversation by a pretty comfortable margin.

As far as horsepower goes, the 3 burners are capable of acheiving 37,500 BTU’s output – more than enough to reach high searing temperatures.  Porcelain enameled cast iron cooking grates combined with a porcelain enameled lid ensures ultimate heat retention and even distribution.  Stainless steel heat deflectors also contribute to creating this heat retention and distribution system.

The Genesis E-310 just looks polished and clean and makes a great visual addition to any patio.

Features like a warming rack, quick ignition system, easy clean grease management, accessory hooks, and a built in temperature gauge make life easy as the pitmaster.  The propane fueled model also comes with a built in fuel gauge.

The Weber Spirit II E-310 3 Burner Grill is a really nice, more cost friendly option if you’re looking for a 3 burner grill.

With 529 square inches of total cooking space, it’s less than the Genesis E-310 but still more than enough to grill for a big family or group of friends.  Porcelain enameled cast iron cooking grates do a great job of distributing heat evenly to the food you cook.

One thing I personally like here is the open cart design.  Combined with a folding side table and built in accessory hooks, you can customize and organize your grilling space as you please.

The three burners are capable of reaching 30,000 BTUs of output, which is enough to reach searing temperatures.

Things We Like:

  • 529 square inches of total cooking area
  • Porcelain enameled cast iron cooking grates
  • Open cart design with foldable side table
  • 30,000 BTU burner output
  • 10 year warranty included

Things We Don’t:

  • Compared to the Genesis counterpart, there’s less cooking area and some of the parts used (like the main handle) are of a slightly lower quality

The second to last model to take a look at for Weber E-210 vs E-310 is the Weber Spirit II E-210 2-Burner Grill.  This grill is arguably one of the best value buys of any grill made by any brand, and it’s one of the overall most popular models in the USA.

It comes with all of the Weber GS4 grilling system features (which we’ll go over in a moment), and has 450 square inches of primary cooking space.  The two burners are capable of achieving 26,500 BTU’s output, and the well designed cooking chamber distributes that heat thoroughly and evenly.

Similar to the other grills on this list, it features an open cart design with a foldable side table and built in accessory hooks.  And if you don’t want a grill that’s a traditional black color, this grill is also available in Ivory, Mocha, Red, and Sapphire options.

Things We Like:

  • Entry level price point for a grill with fantastic features
  • Open cart design with foldable side table
  • 26,500 BTU burner output

Weber Genesis II E-210 Natural Gas Grill

When it comes to 2 burner gas grills, the Weber Genesis II E-210 is one of the best on the market.  From an all around quality and versatility standpoint, it’s pretty hard to beat.

There’s 380 square inches of primary cooking area on porcelain enameled cast iron cooking grates.  Overhead, a 114 square inch tuck away warming rack is perfect for keeping food warm or toasting burger buns.  When it’s not in use, you can easily fold it away so that your primary grilling space gets a little de cluttered.

The open cart design, foldable side table, and storage hooks are designed to help you keep things organized while you cook.  Easy clean grease management and clean up features are also included to make the clean up process as pain free as possible.

With 26,000 BTUs of heat output, you can get temperatures up pretty high, especially for a 2 burner gas grill.

Things We Like:

  • 380 square inches of primary cooking area plus warming rack
  • 114 square inch warming rack tucks away when not in use
  • Open cart design with foldable side table
  • 26,500 BTU burner output
  • 10 year warranty included

Things We Don’t:

  • Still a pretty high price
  • Probably the least bang for your buck of any grill in the Weber E-210 vs E-310 conversation.  If you’re paying extra for a Genesis line grill, it’s probably worth it to get the E-310 and tons of extra cooking space.  There’s not a ton of difference between the Genesis E-210 and Spirit II E-210.
Weber E-210 vs E-310 – Common FeaturesWeber GS4 Grilling System

All of these grills come kitted with Weber’s signature GS4 grilling system.  The GS4 system is basically the inclusion of 4 great features in each of their grills:

Infinity Ignition is a quick start ignition system.  Simply open your fuel line, turn your grill knobs to open, and press the button.  It’s as simple as that to get your grill heating up!

Powerful, Even Burners are included on all GS4 grills.  One of the most important functions of a grill is to evenly distribute heat so that your food cooks properly.  Almost a century of engineering and experience has gone into the design of these powerful burners.

Flavorizer Bars are a personal favorite of mine.  Upside down V shaped bars rest under the grates and over the burner bars.  These bars protect the flame and catch drippings that fall down off of your food while it cooks.  This is a good thing because it lowers the probability of drippings hitting the flame and causing flare ups.  The drippings also vaporize when they contact the flavorizer bars and rise back up as steam and smoke, which add incredible flavor to your food.

Grease Management is one of the last things I want to deal with, so Weber designed a system to make it as easy as possible.  Basically, all grease and food particles are funneled to a disposable drip tray.  When it fills up, you simply throw it away and put a new tray in.  There’s no need for an extensive deep cleaning to get grease out of your grill.

Warranty

One of the reasons that Weber is arguably the best brand in grilling in my mind is due to the fact that their warranties blow industry competition out of the water.

All of the warranties covering parts and main components last for 10 years.  That’s an entire decade that your grill is covered if something happens.

I can’t understate the value of a good warranty.  Not only does it protect your purchase, I view it as a sign of integrity in the manufacturer.  A good warranty bolsters my confidence in the quality of their product, as they’re willing to put their money where their mouth is.

How to Decide Between Weber E-210 vs E-310

Hopefully, this guide has helped to highlight some of the similarities and differences between the Weber E-210 vs E-310 grills.

At the end of the day, you should consider how much cooking space you want, what your budget, and any other features that are important to you.  The nice thing with these grills is that you don’t have to worry about quality or how well they’re built.  Weber has a sterling reputation and you can be sure that you’re getting a well made grill.
