Goodridge, a standing member of CHPA’s Board of Directors since 2019, becomes the first female chair of the association. Currently, Goodridge serves as President, U.S. Self Care at Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc., overseeing the company’s Self Care portfolio, including well-known over-the-counter (OTC) medicines and naturally inspired health and wellness products. She started her career at the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies nearly 20 years ago in marketing and went on to serve in various leadership positions within the company’s consumer and pharmaceutical divisions. Specifically, Goodridge led marketing and commercial functions in the U.S. and globally for Janssen Neuroscience, Consumer Health Self Care, McNeil Nutritionals and Wellness & Prevention business units.

“During the COVID-19 pandemic, self-care has become an instrumental component of healthcare and I am honored to accept the role of CHPA board chair during an incredibly transformative time for the consumer healthcare industry,” said Goodridge. “I have seen firsthand how impactful CHPA’s work is for consumers, our community and for our members’ businesses. I look forward to helping elevate the association’s vision – happier, healthier lives through responsible self-care. Promoting safe use of OTC medicines, advancing dietary supplement regulatory modernization, and continuing CHPA’s industry-wide commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives will be critical focus areas for me as we continue to deliver meaningful change for the industry.”

“We are delighted to welcome Michelle to her new role as CHPA board chair,” said Scott Melville, CHPA president and CEO. “Michelle brings a tremendous amount of industry experience and leadership, a commitment to collaborative engagement, and a passion for issues that matter to consumers – all of which will be incredibly valuable in an environment where self-care has become more important than ever.”

Goodridge succeeds previous chair Paul Gama, president of Personal Health Care for The Procter & Gamble Company (P&G), who helped navigate CHPA through this extremely challenging year. Gama will continue to serve on the board as immediate past chair.

“Under Gama’s board leadership, CHPA completed its transition into a broader association of self-care companies and launched an association-wide Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) initiative, both of which will shape and advance the future of our industry,” continued Melville. “I’m personally thankful for the leadership and vision Paul provided to CHPA during his term as chair.”
