Votion Donates Winter Clothing to the Portland Rescue Mission to Warm the Homeless

PORTLAND, Ore. - Dec. 23, 2017 - PRLog -- The Portland Metro Area can be a particularly difficult place for the homeless during the winter, due to the cold and the rain. According to a "Domicile Unknown" report by Multnomah County, at least 80 homeless people died on Portland's streets in 2016. The county says many of those deaths were preventable. "After the severe cold weather in early 2017 led to at least six deaths from cold exposure, we know that the 2017 numbers could be even worse," the report states.

In an effort to help, Votion employees collected donations for the Portland Rescue Mission (PRM) during December, focusing on new and gently used winter clothes — such as coats, scarves, gloves, hats, thick socks, and boots.

Votion had such a successful similar drive in August, so the company decided another at the end of the year would be a good way to make a difference in the community during the holiday season. "I'm so glad we spent our volunteer efforts on collecting items for the homeless in December," said Sonja, Votion's Administrator. "I can only imagine how hard it is to be homeless, especially during the winter and the holidays. It is our hope that by donating these items, we can warm their bodies and their hearts." Votion plans to donate again and do more work with PRM in 2018.
