Item 8.01. Other Events.
On December 18, 2008, Cadence Financial Corporation ("CADE") issued a press release announcing that shareholders approved an amendment to the company’s Articles of Incorporation that authorizes the issuance of preferred stock by the Company. Shareholder approval was required in order for Cadence to participate in the U. S. Treasury Department’s Capital Purchase Program. The press release is attached as Exhibit 99.1 to this Form 8-K and is furnished to, but not filed with, the Commission.
