Meet Positives Reports an Increase in New STD Infection Cases

The spread of STDs has reached an alarming rate around the world. This is according to the World Health Organization. This organization refers to these diseases as sexually transmitted infections and has stated that there are 1 million new infections everyday in the world. This means that there are over 365 million new STD infection cases around the world every year.

These numbers are not scary until the virus related STIs are included in the statistics. These include herpes simplex virus type 1 and 2, hepatitis B virus, HPV and HIV.

According to the CDC, “The rate of reported STDs was the highest ever in the United States in 2017 (the latest year for which statistics are available) after climbing for four straight years, a rise the CDC described as steep and sustained.”

Jack Lombardi, Founder of Meet Positives says, “The number of new infections is alarming. We have to accept that STDs are here with us but we also need to take states to stop the spread of these viruses and bacterial infections. First, it is important to use all forms of protection when engaging in sexual activities. This includes condoms and dental dams. The best way to stop the spread of STDs is to get tested. Knowing your status and the status of your partner will help you live a better careful life while protecting yourself and the people around you.”

The meet Positives founder also announced their new service which aims at providing at-home STD test kits which will help people get tested in private. Most people are afraid of getting tested based on the stigma associated with this process.

“It is now possible to get tested for STDs after risky sexual encounters. You just order the at-home test kits, collect samples, send it to the lab and results will be sent to you through email,” Jack added.
