Special Needs Family Wins VacayStay Florida Contest

ORLANDO, Fla. - February 20, 2019 - (Newswire.com)

Everyone loves being a contest winner. But for the Chavez family, from Pembroke Pines, Florida, winning the VacayStay Florida Family Vacation Fun photo contest was especially sweet. The Chavez’ oldest child, Nicolas, has autism. According to Alexandria Chavez, Nicolas’ mom: “When we found out about the vacation rental option, it sounded like a great fit for us. Being in a vacation home as opposed to a hotel is very appealing -- lots of space to move around and an easier transition for Nicolas.” The Chavez family is shown here in their winning photo, enjoying sunset on the beach.

VacayStay Florida is a series of contests organized by the Florida Vacation Rental Management Association (FVRMA) to help raise awareness about the positive impact of vacation rentals for families, communities, and the State of Florida. Denis Hanks, the FVRMA Executive Director, said, “Vacation rentals are now the preferred lodging for families visiting our state. The vacation rental economy has blossomed into a 31 billion dollar per year hospitality market that rivals the hotel industry.”

For so many families like the Chavez family, this makes perfect sense. Families and groups of people may choose vacation rentals for a variety of reasons -- affordability, having the ability to come together and bond as a group, space, and convenience. For special needs travelers like Nicolas (1 in 59 children in the US has autism), this can be a lifesaver. But for any group, even for business travelers, vacation rentals are growing in popularity.

The growing vacation rental movement creates tremendous economic impact for local communities, fueling job creation and supporting related businesses from restaurants to museums and amusement parks. In addition to their vacation rental, the Chavez family will enjoy tickets to SeaWorld and Gatorland, sponsored by Kissimmee Guest Services. The Aquatica water park at SeaWorld was recently declared a Certified Autism Center, making it easier for children like Nicolas to visit. The vacation home was donated by Dream Orlando Vacation Rentals, with marketing support provided by VillaKey, a vacation rental company with a special focus on families living with autism.

For the Chavez family, staying in a vacation rental means having the opportunity to make memories together. “As a family of 5, it is often difficult for us to afford a family vacation beyond a one night stay, so we are beyond thrilled to win this vacation package. We are so grateful for this opportunity provided by FVRMA.”

This edition of the VacayStay Florida contest was made possible by the FVRMA and generous support of member organizations.

Dream Orlando Vacation Rentals provided a 3-day stay in a vacation rental home.

Kissimmee Guest Services provided tickets to SeaWorld and Gatorland.

VillaKey provided vacation rental marketing services and outreach to the autism community.
