Comcast Invests Nearly $2 Million to Serve Deer Park Residents and Businesses

Comcast today announced that the company has invested nearly $2 million over nine months to upgrade its network in Deer Park, Washington by installing state-of-the-art fiber optic network and coaxial cable infrastructure. As a result, the company’s full suite of Xfinity residential and Comcast Business services are now available to the vast majority of 2,200 residents and business owners in Deer Park, Washington.

Comcast residential services now available include Xfinity X1, with up to 225 channels of programming, Gig-speed internet service, complimentary access to nearly one million WiFi hotspots throughout Washington state, home phone service, 24/7 professional monitoring home security, and Xfinity Mobile service. Local businesses are able to receive speeds up to 10 Gbps and all Comcast Business products and services – from the most advanced data and voice solutions to security, backup and video services.

“There is a lot of excitement among residents and in the business community around the new offerings from Comcast,” said Tim Verzal, Deer Park Mayor. “We are pleased by the company’s investment in Deer Park and work to upgrade its network.”

“Comcast is excited to be the new media and technology provider in Deer Park. We have worked diligently to upgrade our network so that we can offer all of our products and services across the area,” said Amy Lynch, Region Vice President, Comcast Washington. “Deer Park residents can now take advantage of fast Internet speeds – up to 1 Gigabit – along with Xfinity X1, which features voice remote, Video On Demand, DVR storage, residential phone service, and home security products.”

Deer Park residents also have access to innovative new products like xFi pods that extend WiFi coverage, and unmatched control through the Xfinity xFi app, which provides customers with full access to their network through their mobile devices. They may also take advantage of Xfinity X1, Comcast’s comprehensive entertainment system, which includes the easy-to-use voice remote, integrated apps like Netflix and YouTube, as well as hundreds of channels and shows for their viewing pleasure, both live and On Demand.

Deer Park residents have the opportunity to take advantage of Internet Essentials from Comcast – the nation’s largest and most comprehensive high-speed Internet adoption program for low-income Americans. It provides low-cost, high-speed Internet service for $9.95 a month plus tax; the option to purchase an Internet-ready computer for under $150; and multiple options to access free digital literacy training in print, online and in person.

Since 2011, Comcast has connected more than six million low-income Americans to the Internet through its acclaimed Internet Essentials program. Washington State ranks eighth in the nation in terms of the number of residents who have embraced the program. In fact, in the last seven years, approximately 25,000 in the Spokane Metro Area, have signed up for Internet Essentials.

Comcast took over operational control of Northstar Broadband Cable TV system earlier this year. Since 2011, Comcast has invested more than $2.2 billion in Washington technology and infrastructure.
