Aquantia to Showcase Flexible 10GbE Multi-Gig Switch Design for Connected Consumers at Computex

Computex – Aquantia Corp. (NYSE: AQ), a leader in Multi-Gig Ethernet, and Cameo Communications Inc., today announced a jointly designed 10 Gigabit switch platform targeted at the Small office Home office (SoHo). This flexible design can accommodate up to eight 10GbE ports with the option to offer a mix of 10GbE, Multi-Gig and Gigabit ports. The first retail product based on this reference design is the Trendnet 8-Port 10G Switch.

“This joint switch design was created for the truly connected consumer - whether it’s a power user who wants to tweak every packet of performance out of his home network or a small office owner who needs to move and process huge files as part of the daily workflow,” said LK Bhupathi, Senior Director of Product Marketing, Aquantia Corp. “Paired with our Multi-Gig AQtion Ethernet adapters this switch will provide home networking nirvana. Cameo is enabling its customers to deliver a variety of switch options for the connected consumer and we are pleased to announce this new platform at Computex.”

The Cameo design leverages the Aquantia AQrate AQR407 Multi-Gig PHY to provide a cost-effective switch solution for 10G network connections. It supports managed switch features to reduce complexity and also incorporates web-based management to control traffic, VLAN, QoS, access controls and more. Network attached storage (NAS), media centers, routers, access points and gaming devices can all benefit from this new type of affordable, high-bandwidth and easy-to-deploy switch platforms.

“Aquantia is leading the Multi-Gig revolution here at Computex. It’s stunning to see so many devices that will be able to be connected through simple, cost-effective, and faster switches as users demand better system requirements to deal with moving large amounts of data faster,” said JuAn Tseng, General Manager of Cameo Communications Inc. “The Aquantia Cameo switch reference platform is going to give users the key technology they need to create the Multi-Gig networks which enhance entertainment, creativity and productivity. We are pleased to partner with Aquantia on this new platform.”

The Aquantia Cameo switch reference platform delivers a cost-effective and flexible configuration for compact switches across a range of speed requirements. These PHYs are multi-speed 4-port ICs and are pin-compatible with different speed PHYs. OEMs will be able to customize their products based on this switch design to their own specifications.
