Hailing from Greenwood, South Carolina, Shawn Michael discovered music at the young age of 8. Though he did not come from a musical family, he enjoyed the sounds of blues, R&B and old school when he was a child. Some of Shawn’s first musical influences included the late rapper Heavy D, Run DMC, Salt-N-Pepa, Dr. Dre and Ice Cube to name a few. Shawn, who says he ”doesn’t like to live in a box”, listens to virtually all types of music including Rihanna, P.Diddy, The Notorious B.I.G. and most recently Cardi B. The rap artist/actor, who once toured with acts such as Salt-N-Pepa, Heavy D and others, solidified his destiny as a performer early on having performed at concerts, live showcase, and fashion events.
As a devoted father, Shawn put his music aspirations on hold to raise his daughter as a single father. Now, while juggling fatherhood and life’s demands, Shawn has once again set his sights on making his dreams become reality. The performer, who attended the Art Institute of Atlanta has worked single-handedly to build his rise to success.
Shawn Michael’s music style is a blend of hip-hop, pop music and R&B with a street vibe but falls within the mainstream genres of hip-hop and rap. His music has been compared to artists such as Ty Dolla $ign, Chris brown ”Loyal” and Bruno Mars. His goal is to create feel good music that people can relate to.
One of Shawn’s lifelong dreams has been to release a rap album. Though he had many doubters for one reason or another, he has proven all of the naysayers wrong. Shawn released his debut album ‘The Resurrection’ this year. The album consists of 11 songs including his debut singles “Party2Nite”, “No Sleep” and “I Want It All”. According to Shawn, ‘The Resurrection’ is not just a music release, it is “a celebration of never letting go”. His latest project has been featured on Fresh Out The Booth, glitterandstilettoes, Virginia Bangerz, OKC Bangerz, LA Bangerz and Screaming Match Productions. ‘The Resurrection’ is currently available in all digital music stores. When Shawn Michael is not making music, he is a philanthropist and runs a nonprofit organization called the Hain Foundation.
