USAFacts, the nonpartisan, not-for-profit civic data initiative founded by Steve Ballmer, will debut a giant, 50-foot inflated version of an everyday object on the Washington Monument Grounds. The striking installation is designed to shine a light on how reliable data can cut through confusion and clarify today’s headlines, helping citizens better understand the facts behind issues like immigration, education, the economy and the federal budget.

“We expect this installation will stop passersby in their tracks,” said Devon Savage, Director of marketing at USAFacts. “When something familiar appears out of proportion, we notice right away. But in today’s news cycle, distorted political headlines often slip past us without question. This activation shows how data can restore clarity and give people the tools they need to make informed decisions about the issues shaping their lives.”

The activation includes interactive signage that presents clear, contextual facts on the nation’s most pressing issues, along with trivia questions to test government knowledge and USAFacts giveaways. The goal: spark conversation about how reliable data can cut through confusion and bring clarity to the issues influencing today’s headlines.

When: Thursday, September 18, 2025

Time: 9 a.m. ET to 8:30 p.m. ET
