On September 19, 2008, Management and the Board of Directors have concluded that Washington Federals investment in Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae preferred stock is other than temporarily impaired. The Company will record an other than temporary impairment charge of approximately $88 million pre tax, during its 4th fiscal quarter.
