Item 8.01 Other Events.

 

On December 31, 2004, E. Dean Fick, Vice President and Chief Claims Officer retired from United Fire & Casualty Company. Dean has served United Fire & Casualty Company as Vice President and Chief Claims officer since 1991.

 

David E. Conner, Vice President of United Fire & Casualty Company, will succeed Dean Fick as Chief Claims Officer effective January 1, 2005. David has been employed by United Fire & Casualty Company as a Claims Manager since July 1998. He has more than 20 years of claims experience, both in claims adjusting and management. He also holds numerous insurance designations, including CPCU, and has earned a master of business administration degree.
